Addison Reed Traded to Arizona Diamondbacks

Reed Goes to Diamondbacks

Ugh. Reed was one of the only reasons I actually enjoyed last season. Now, he's on his way to Arizona. Looks like I got his autograph just in time ;)... Addison Reed saved 29 games in 2012 and saved 40 in 2013. He finished 2013 with a 5-4 record and a 3.79 ERA.

He was traded for an up-and-coming 3rd baseman from AZ's AAA Team, Matt Davidson.

Seems like he has medicre numbers, to me. As in, he has decent numbers in A ball (2011) but leading up to AAA seems like his numbers are decreasing; which tells me he is not ready for the drastic change players see in the MLB. His OBP is looking pretty solid, though. Hopefully, of course, I am proven wrong in my dismay.

Juan Pierre to the Chicago White Sox

Juan Pierre, formally of the LA Dodgers, is now wearing a White Sox uniform. Another bogus move by the White Sox. Pierre is a great player, don't get me wrong, but not so much better than Podsednik. Pierre finished last season with an average of .308 and 30 stolen bases. He crossed the plate 57 times. Pods had around the same numbers and has been a on the White Sox for a few years, making him a veteran and possible team leader. I do hope Pierre gets as many stolen bases as he did last year, we need that. This may be the only move I am happy with but not really as this looks to be the end of Pods. We'll see.

Waiting on Word About Matsui

The White Sox are still looking to Matsui to fill a role next season. Hideki Matsui finished last season with 28 homers and 90 RBIs. Yet another prospect with a batting average under .300, but we could use a left-handed DH. The White Sox are still in talks with Matsui's agent but nothing fruitful has come as of yet. Ozzie stated that he would rather a DH who could play in the field from time to time, Matsui expressed interest in getting back into the outfield. Maybe something will happen. I'm not the biggest fan of Matsui but he is a pretty good player, on and off the field. I wouldn't mind seeing him in a Chicago White Sox uniform next season. Only time will tell. I haven't read anything about past MLB rumors I have reported otherwise they would have been reported here. Check back for more White Sox news.

Arbitration Declined for Dye, Pods

The White Sox have declined salary arbitration for four of their players. Jermaine Dye being one of them. Dotel, Castro and Pods are among the others. As I mentioned before, I'm not a big fan of Dotel (or Castro for that matter) so I am not sad to see them go. Pods and Dye on the other hand, are going to be sorely missed I am afraid. If we lose these two guys I think we need to be replacing them with TALENT. Dye is a power hitter with great presence in the outfield, Pods has a great presence in the outfield as well and he is valuable to have on the bases. There's MLB rumors going around that Dye will be headed down south, haven't read anything about Pods yet. I'll keep you posted with more White Sox news when it becomes available.

Deadline for Dye Approaches

The deadline for salary arbitration for Jermaine Dye and Octavio Dotel is tonight. If offered, other teams, such as the Yankees, Atlanta and San Francisco, may increase their efforts to talk with Dye's agent. As for Dotel, I am not sad to see him go. He came through a few times, but more often than not he blew it. The White Sox have refused to comment about what they will do with Jermaine Dye. As I mentioned earlier, I hope they keep him. I know they won't.

New Reliever for White Sox?

Apparently the White Sox have been in talks with Takashi Saito. He ended last season with an ERA of 2.43. They say this would make it easier to get rid of Bobby Jenks. The Braves and the Mets have also expressed interest in Saiko. Again, I am going to ask this once more, where are the White Sox's minor leaguers? If we are going to continuously sign older players why do we even have a minor league(s)?

Wise to Phillies

White Sox blog, baseball blog, MLB news
DeWayne Wise has made a deal with the Phillies. Apparently he will play in their minor leagues with an option to attend spring training. Now I am very critical of our bats and Wise is no exception, he needs to work on his hitting. What he did bring was great speed and smarts on the bases and a great defensive game, you may remember the catch he made to save Buehrle's no hitter. I really wish the White Sox would have kept him and Dye. These two made for a great outfield, combined with Pods. Good luck to you DeWayne!

New Player to White Sox Roster

The White Sox have signed Andruw Jones. Well that's just great. Hey, let's get rid of all the White Sox players that have been with us for years, who are comfortable with the team and management and replace them with old, almost on their way out players from mediocre teams. Great. Are we trying to win games? Jones has been signed to a one year $500,000 contract which brings yet another newly signed player with a batting average under .250; Ken Williams (the White Sox GM) was quoted, "This is an opportunity to add a power bat to the roster while improving our outfield depth." Yea, just like Rios right? I hope I see some good decisions made soon.

New York Yankess eyeing Dye?

The New York Yankees deny reports that they are looking at Jermaine Dye. Apparently the Yankees are looking for outfielders and of course Dye would fit this need. I hope not. I would like to see him at a team that needs him, not one that just stacks talent because they can afford it. It was mentioned he wouldn't mind going out East but doesn't want to be a all-the-time DH. A couple teams out West are also looking for outfielders. I hope he stays with the White Sox, but that's extremely doubtful.

New Catcher?

The White Sox have apparently expressed interest in Henry Blanco. He is definitely not going to be a replacement for A.J. because let's face it, A.J. is, in my opinion, one of the best catchers in Major League Baseball today.

Danks wants to stay!

White Sox news, baseball stuff, MLB news, John Danks
John Danks wants to stay with the White Sox! Apparently John and Gavin Floyd were offered four-year, $15.5 million extensions last March, with a $9.5 million option for 2013. I hope they both take it!

Will Dye stay with the White Sox?

Chicago White Sox news, baseball stuff, Jermaine Dye
It is almost time to see if Jermaine Dye will leave the White Sox. I hope he stays. He is a team leader, a veteran and someone to count on when needed. Another one of my favorite White Sox players, Scott Podsednik, is going free agent too. We might be/are losing some of the best players this week. I just hope management is prepared to replace them with worthy talent. What's the deal with our minor league players?

White Sox acquire Teahen from Kansas City Royals

The White Sox have acquired Mark "The Big Tractor" Teahen from the Kansas City Royals for Chris Getz and Josh Fields. I am a bit worried as they were our infield. What are they going to do with Gordon Beckham? Who are they going to replace them with? By the end of the season The Cuban Missile, Alexei, wasn't playing very well. They kept him though. This looks to be the end of Jermaine Dye as well as Teahen would most likely be playing in the outfield somewhere. Too bad, JD is one of our best players.
